Yes, Let's Save the Planet.

It might be fun, but it won't be easy. The stakes are high. We're losing animal and plant species vital to our long-term health. We're surrounding ourselves with toxic landfills, polluted air, poisoned water. Millions of people will lose their jobs in the coming years and we'll have to help them transition to the next economy.

There are many challenges but we are the generation of people who will share in all the fun and excitement of rebuilding an entire planet. Never before has a global economic system had to transform itself from top to bottom.

Stop spending money. More than anything else, it's the buying and transporting of things you don't need that are killing the planet. (Beware, people will lose jobs. Help them get started in the next economy.)

Get rid of your car. Don't whine, just do it. Ride a bike. Walk. Move closer to your job, or quit your job and start a next economy business in your garage/closet/attic/kitchen.

Grow a garden. You'll save money, and you'll be healthier. The ripple effect of reduced fossil fuel consumption will be tremendous. Yes, even a few tiny plants on your windowsill will make a difference. Hint: start small. Big gardens are unnecessary and become overgrown and a visible reminder of failure.

Find other ideas. Here's a good starting place for "save the planet" ideas on the web:Treehugger.

A bonus to all this is that you will be increasing your power over--and decreasing your dependence on--big government, big utilities, big business.

You Do It For Me

Perhaps you're too busy with work, kids, church, etc. to start tackling all this right now. It might be easier for you to donate the money to an account that will leverage many donations. The fund will put money into legal action, policy changes at all levels of government, and into companies at the leading edges of technology focused on transitioning us to the next economy.

Let's be clear: you're donating this to a private, for-profit corporation. This is not a non-profit, tax-deductible contribution. You are not receiving a product. This is a donation only. Thank you.

Full financial accounting will be made on this website on a quarterly basis. If you desire, your name will be added to the list of people who stepped up and did something to try to save the world. If we're successful, people hundreds of years in the future will look at that list and thank you.
